The villa itself was comfortable and impeccably clean, offering everything we needed for a relaxing family getaway. One of our favorite features was the spacious braai area where we enjoyed evening cookouts while listening to the Olifants River—a truly soothing backdrop for our meals. The hippos at night added an unforgettable touch; we found it fascinating to spot them from our patio! During the day, we took advantage of the ample hiking opportunities nearby, making it easy for our young daughter to explore and connect with the stunning landscape. As an environmental scientist, I appreciated the property's commitment to maintaining a clean and harmonious atmosphere. While the villa did not have direct river access, we found it cozy and equipped with all necessary amenities, including good wifi, which kept our daughter entertained when necessary. Shepherds Rest Villa was a well-rounded destination for families looking to unwind and indulge in nature’s splendor. Highly recommend it for a nice family retreat.
